Hello there!
I hope everything is fine! The past four weeks have been intense for me, at least crochet-wise. So I have loooots of things to show you and share… let’s get started!
The MoroccanMintTea Shawl is here!
I had already shown you a preview, but I officially released the pattern of the MoroccanMintTea Shawl a few weeks ago. This is by far my most ambitious pattern and arguably the one I’m most proud of; I hope you like it too!
I have to admit that it’s not a quick and easy one, but the result is totally worth it, don’t you think? As usual, you can get this pattern in Etsy, in Ravelry, in Hobbii.com and a German translation in Hobbii.de.
Summer bags galore!
Definitely, crochet bags are a must for this summer! I’ve seen them everywhere, even in places not very handmade-friendly like Zara and other big chains. But we know better than to buy something when we can make it with our own hands, right? :)
So, I grabbed my hook and a couple of my blanket patterns and came up with these two bags!
This one got quite big, like a beach bag where you can fit everything! It’s made with three identical squares of the DarjeelingTea Blanket (up to round 21) sewn together.
Then I made this one:
This one is a bit smaller, and the colors just make me think of Midsommar in Sweden! It’s made with three identical squares of the JasmineTea Blanket, this time up to round 16. Both are sewn the same way, and believe me, it’s super easy and takes no time! You can check my Instagram account for a quick and eaasy tutorial on how to make them!
Other stuff I’ve been working on
Everytime I release a pattern, I say that I’m going to take a break from designing and focus on leisure crocheting for a while. And then two days later I’m working on a new design again :D
But after releasing the MoroccanMintTea Shawl, I could not stop thinking about how to bring those beautiful ceramic-style shapes into a new design! So I started working on a new shawl, this time a rectangular one. Say hello to the GenmaichaTea Shawl!
This one is part of a collaboration with Hobbii, so the release dates will have their own rythm. Hobbii launched a challenge called #HobbiiElements, where we had to choose one Element and make a design inspired on it. I chose water, and particularly rain, which is very much needed in Spain - the drought is taking a toll on both the environment and the people.
I’m eager to finish this design and show it to you all, so stay tuned!
Stash busting time!
In parallel, I realized that after a whole year of crocheting, I had a HUGE bag of leftover cotton yarn of all kinds of colors! So I joined Turquoise Palm’s CAL and made a beautiful shawl with all my scraps. I got a smile on my face during the whole process, as each color reminded me of a shawl or design I had made before :)
The pattern is super simple and minimalistic, which is fantastic to let color do its thing. Do you have a lot of leftover yarn that you need to use up? This is your project!
June color inspiration
And finally, my favorite part: color inspiration!
This color mix that I came up with for the DarjeelingTea bag was quite a success when I posted it in Instagram:
It’s a mix of Hobbii Rainbow (R) and Hobbii Friends (F) 8/4 cotton, in the following colors: F108, F109, R56, R49, R50, R62, R87, R101
And a few weeks ago, one lovely customer contacted me. She had purchased one of my shawl patterns and wanted to make it in shades of red, but was out of ideas. So I came up with this red to purple transition, that I have not used myself (yet) but surely will!
These are all Hobbii Friends 8/4 cotton in colors 40, 41, 42, 43, 48, 65, 70, and 71.
Aaaand nothing else for today! I hope that wherever you are, you are safe and healthy and enjoying a lot of crochet time and creativity :)
Cheers!
I'd love to see your beautiful shawl! <3
You are very correct that the Morrocan Shawl is not the easiest or quickest to make but it is absolutely beautiful when done. I am just finishing up my last 4th repeat to complete my shawl in yarn from Wolle Amore I purchase on Etsy.
